Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Pregnancy Massage
is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

Raindrop Technique is a powerful, non- invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. During the years that it has been practiced, it has resolved numerous cases of scoliosis and kyphosis and eliminated the need for back surgery for thousands of people. Raindrop Therapy is based on the theory that many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lay dormant along the spine. These pathogens create inflammatiton, which in turn, contorts and disfigures the spinal column. Raindrop Therapy uses a sequence of highly microbial essential oils designed to simultaneously reduce inflammation and kill the viral agents responsible for it. The principle oils used are: oregano, thyme, basil, marjoram, peppermint, wintergreen, and cypress. The oils are dispensed like little drops of rain from a height of about six inches and massage alongside the vertebrae. Although the entire process takes about 60 minutes to complete, the oils will continue to work in the body for 5 to 7 days following treatment, with continued realignment taking place during that time.

SPECIALIZING IN:

Fitness Massage
Setting and achieving any fitness goal can be a daunting task. Most of us have set attainable goals only to workout for a week and be overcome by pain, soreness, and doubt. Massage therapy can mean many things to different people. For the first time gym member, massage can help facilitate a smooth transition into that healthy lifestyle that you've always dreamed of. For the seasoned fitness enthusiast, massage can motivate and instill confidence that can propel you from a brisk jog to your first marathon. And for the professional athlete, it has been proven that therapeutic bodywork is a major contributing factor to the strength, speed, and endurance that sets the amateurs apart from the pros. Don't just take my word for it. The majority of professional sports organizations either directly employ or recommend massage therapists to their athletes. Whatever category you fall into, take advantage of all the modalities that will bring you closer to your goal!

Sports & Medical Injuries
Whether you are just starting to get that "tight" feeling or if you've been dealing wtith pain, we have a treatment to help. Chronic pain and traumatic injury can be a life changing situation. Some of you may have been told that your injuries and pain are "in your head" or that "we don't see anything on your MRI". Some of you have been told to deal with the pain with prescription drugs or continue unsuccessful attempts at physical therapy and pain management. I know this because I have been working with these same stories for the past ten years and I am here to tell you that many of you need not suffer any longer. How many of your doctors actually "laid their hands" on your problem? Have they recommended professional massage therapy from a Licensed Massage Therapist? For the majority of you, those answers are always "no". Because, for the majority of you that are suffering in pain that can not be treated, it is almost always a muscular problem. But which of your doctors is the most well versed in treating muscle pain and injury? If you have a nerve problem, you go to the neurologist. If you have a heart problem, you go to the cardiologist. If you have a foot problem, you go to the podiatrist. But who is the most well versed in muscle problems? Who deals, HANDS ON, with EVERY client, EVERY day, with the human musculature? The answer: Massage Therapists!  Schedule a massage today and experience for yourself the positive effects of therapeutic massage.
